Silent Night | Roman Griffin Davis On Working With His Mom As Director And Swearing [Exclusive Interview]

Silent Night

With Christmas breathing down our necks comes RLJE Films, Silent Night. This film is written and directed by Camille Griffin. Like a lot of people around the world, a group of friends and family have come tougher for what looks like their last Christmas Dinner. While the world is slowly facing its impending doom, they are determined to enjoy one last night together and forget about their fate at least for a few hours.

As we have mentioned before, Silent Night is a metaphorical exploration of the moral and emotional values of the British privileged classes. One way that Griffin takes us on this journey is through the eyes of children. As they can be sponges to the behaviors and mannerisms that their parents display daily. Which then can expose their family in social events like a Christmas dinner. Especially when they are put moments of pressure.

The same can be said from the parenting side of things. As they can also show methods of “do as I say not as I do” styles of teaching. In Silent Night, Griffin does a great job at putting the kids in specific situations to help develop her theme.

With the release of Silent Night, LRM Online’s Emmanuel Gomez spoke with Roman Griffin Davis. Even with the great talent around him in the film, Davis shines and one can argue steals the film. If he looks familiar it’s because he also played Jojo in Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit. He tells us about his role in this film and working with such a fabulous cast. Also being that the writer/director is his mom and his brothers are also in the film, he shares with us his feelings on working with family. I couldn’t not ask him about how much swearing is actually allowed in real life. His answer definitely surprised me. Check it out down below!

Here is the synopsis for Silent Night

From producers Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman franchise), Trudie Styler (Moon) and Celine Rattray (The Kids Are Alright), Silent Night follows parents Nell (Knightley) and Simon (Goode) who have invited their closest friends to join their family for Christmas dinner at their idyllic home in the English countryside.  As the group comes together, it feels like old times – but behind all of the laughter and merriment, something is not quite right.  The world outside is facing impending doom, and no amount of gifts, games or Prosecco can make mankind’s imminent destruction go away.  Surviving the holidays just got a lot more complicated.

RLJE Films’ Silent Night is now available on AMC+.
