Silicon Valley Ending With Season 6

I’m concerned. The latest season of Silicon Valley ended nicely. Richard managed to finally one-up all of his enemies, resulting in Pied Piper getting set up in a slick new office and the promise of a fruitful future. Given the show’s tendency to let absolutely everything go wrong constantly, I worried we’d get stuck on this endless loop of two steps forward, five steps back until the end of time. Now, it sounds like HBO will be putting an end to that pattern with its next season.

According to THR, HBO’s Silicon Valley will end in its upcoming seven-episode season, and while I think that’s pretty cool, I’m also quite possibly even more worried. With only seven episodes left, there’s enough time to make things go even more wrong than ever before…but perhaps not enough to bring in that final wave of good fortune. Regardless, everyone seems to be ready for this show to go out on a high note.

Silicon Valley has been a career and life highlight for us. We’ll miss it desperately, but we’ve always let Pied Piper’s journey guide the way, and Season Six seems to be the fitting conclusion,” said executive producers Mike Judge and Alec Berg in a statement. “We are forever indebted to our incredible cast, crew and partners at HBO. At a certain point, there’s only so much we can do to make the world a better place.”

Well, they’ve definitely made my world a better place. I can only hope the writers are at least a little kind with how they resolve the story. While it seems inevitable that Richard and co. will end up exactly where they started at the beginning of the show, I hope they at least give us a glimmer of hope.
