It’s funny how depending on who you talk to, watching WWE is considered a guilty pleasure because of one or another reason. In my case I am a wrestling fan and have been since I was introduced to it as a child. Now this is something that enjoy with my 9 year old daughter, who last night was part of thousands cheering on her favorite superstars at a live event in Fresno, California.

The reason I share this is because without a doubt sharing something that your passionate about with your child is a great feeling that gives you something you can share. This is something that Simone Johnson, the daughter of ten time world champion Dwanye “The Rock” Johnson and Dany Garcia knows all too well. She grew up watching the millions (and millions) of her dad’s fans cheer him on all over the world and now her path to wrestling stardom officially kicks off. WWE announced earlier today that the eighteen year old has officially signed with WWE and and began her training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. What makes her journey significant is that she is on her way to become the first fourth generation Superstar in WWE history. Her family includes a line of legends like “High Chief” Peter Maivia, Rocky Johnson and of course her dad The Rock. “It means the world to me,” Johnson said in an interview with WWE. “To know that my family has such a personal connection to wrestling is really special to me and I feel grateful to have the opportunity, not only to wrestle, but to carry on that legacy.”

Being in my early thirties, I have had the opportunity to see some wrestlers and some of their kin wrestle one of the greatest examples is “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair and now her daughter “The Queen” Charlotte Flair. I am very excited to see the progress of Johnson although I do feel that she has very large shoes to fill as her dad was one of the most charismatic, electrifying performers in history. I look forward to see what she brings to the ring as she keeps her family legacy going in the ring.
