Lead star Simu Liu says Shang-Chi 2 is still definitely happening despite there being no place for it on MCU slate. Of course we recently had some announcements at SDCC of the upcoming MCU movies. However, in the latest slate which came out after SDCC there remains several untitled Marvel projects that have release dates. Most fans would predict one of those will be Shang-Chi 2, but when and where we still don’t know.
Speaking with PTINews recently, Liu is adamant the film is happening, he just doesn’t know when, or refuses to say.
“A lot of it is above my pay grade but it’s definitely happening,” he said, adding, “So just very excited to kind of work on it and it’s going to be amazing. I really can’t say anything beyond that.”

If you had asked me just after I watched Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, I’d have guessed we’d see the sequel before the next Avengers film. However, that does not appear to be the case. Only one of those untitled Marvel movies is set between Doomsday and Secret Wars, the rest are after. Now, it’s also possible another film is there but not shown i.e. Spider-Man 4, which is a Sony movie. Therefore Shang-Chi 2 may come before Secret Wars, but it seems not before Doomsday.
Will Liu’s Shang-Chi feature in Doomsday? That again is something we don’t yet know. However, it is good to know as far as Liu has heard, Shang-Chi 2 is still definitely happening. I personally thought it was one of the better MCU movies post-Endgame.
What do you think of Simu Liu’s comments on Shang-Chi 2? Are you excited to get a sequel to this film eventually? Thoughts below as always.
