Sin City Getting A TV Series From Legendary TV, Robert Rodriguez In Talks To Join

Way back in the 2000s, Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez “adapted” Miller’s own Sin City graphic novels to the big screen. I say “adapted” in quotes, because they weren’t adapted so much transliterated onto the big screen panel-by-panel. It consisted of three stories that were all rolled into one, and was pretty unique in structure as well as style, and that structure really reflected the times.

In today’s climate, that graphic novel would get a TV or streaming deal that would adapt each novel as an episode. Well, it sounds like the industry has finally caught up to what’s best for the property, as a Sin City series is likely on its way.

Deadline is reporting that Frank Miller has just inked a deal with Legendary Television to turn the graphic novel into a series. Rodriguez is near closing his own deal which would see him reteaming to adapt the anthology series for the small screen. We do not know if he would assist in developing, creating, or co-directing, but his involvement would be a good get for Miller.

Honestly, I can’t say I’m super thrilled by this. While Sin City was great, I can’t say I found myself revisiting the pages or the film, and the more recent A Dame to Kill For movie seemed to indicate that the stylization it brought would only go so far. That being said, I’m open to a more unique take on it that goes above simply transliterating the panels for the screen.
