A pandemic is one step away from being the apocalypse. As human civilizations collapse, no one imagines or wonder what the animals are doing.

In Syfy’s newest animation, Wild Life, it’s a comedy about a gang of zoo animal friends who are hanging out after an apocalypse. They elaborate schemes to entertain themselves from going insane.

There’s the pacificist cheetah Glenn (John Reynolds), bubbly dolphin Marny (Claudia O’Doherty), hyper fox Hudson (Baron Vaughn), psychedelic koala Darby (Reggie Watts), self-care loving panda Debbie (SkittLeZ Ortiz), and energy drink-guzzling sloth Viv (Natalie Palamides). Together, they come up with elaborate schemes to entertain themselves and just keep from going insane. From taking trips to a mutant-infested mall for hood ornaments to stumbling upon an old broadcast studio and creating their own shows, these critters are always up to something.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with SkittLeZ Ortiz, one of the voices on the animation. Ortiz voiced Debbie, the loving panda. We talked about voice production during a pandemic, the animation, and the lure of doing this project.

Ortiz is a Puerto Rican actor, singer, and content creator. Most known as “the guy from ‘Shut Spanish Girls Say,” the content creator has a very active YouTube presence with comedy and music videos. SkittLez appeared in a television series previously called High Maintenance as Jed. It’s a comedy that explores the private lives of unique New York individuals through a common thread—their weed deliveryman.

Wild Life premieres on the Syfy channel on September 26, 2020, around 12:15 a.m. ET/PT.
