Remakes on remakes on remakes. That’s the Hollywood way these days. Well, remakes and sequels to existing properties at least. The upcoming TBS series Snowpiercer is a remake of the 2014 film by the same name which was based on a French graphic novel called Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette.

The story sees a group of humans living on a train that travels a snow and ice-covered globe. Why is the world covered in ice? Humans tried to cool the planet to counteract global warming, but the planet began to cool itself causing double cooling. Is that a thing? Either way, a class system begins with the rich and well off in the front cars and the poor in the back cars. The property has seen names of characters change from format to format but the story of the classes clashing remains the same.

A man from the rear cars rallies his fellow bottom tier residents to take over the train. Daveed Diggs will star as Layton Well with the voice of the train Melanie Cavill being played by Jennifer Connelly. They will share the small screen with the likes of Lena Hall, Sam Otto, Alison Wright, and Mickey Sumner.

The show is set to air next year on TBS and is being executive produced by the director of the original film, Bong Joon-ho.
