So There Is A [SPOILER] Park In Westworld Season 3!

Westworld Season 3

It goes without saying given the title, but there are SPOILERS for Westworld Season 3, Episode 2 in this article. If you don’t care read on, if you’ve seen it, you already know where this story is going.

**SPOILERS Below for Westworld Season 3, Episode 2**

I won’t get into the meat of last night’s story in Westworld Season 3, however one Easter egg moment is sure to have fans talking. Bernard makes it back into ‘Westworld’, and whilst he is roaming about the backstage area, he comes across ‘Park 4’. It is never said directly, (they don’t need to), but clearly Park 4 is Westeros, aka Game of Thrones world.

Westworld Season 3

Not only did were the costumes familiar, but former Game of Thrones showrunners Benioff and Weiss showed up. The pair were technicians gloating about how they’ve managed to sell one of the dragons, also present in the shot. This was not the only Game of Thrones reference. Bernard’s new/old companion also gets into a scrap that is watched by Thrones like automatons. Finally, there’s an easy to miss electronica version of the Game of Thrones theme for a moment.

All in all, this Game of Thrones reference is nothing more than fan service. The reveal serves little to no purpose other than as fan service, yet it’s a fan service fans have asked for. Throughout Season 1 and 2 of Westworld I heard a lot of fans hoping for a Westeros themed park and some sort of crossover. Finally, those fans have their wish. I should say that I didn’t dislike this piece of fan service, it certainly didn’t hinder the story or feel forced in. If the characters had come across Loch Ness monster, or Vampire park it wouldn’t have mattered, so its a fun nod and nothing more.

I guess I have one question on my lips…was Season 7-8 of Thrones a simulation, and can we get it redone? Probably not, damn it. What did you think of the Thrones connection in this week’s Westworld? Let us know as always below.
