Solo: Donald Glover Doesn’t Think Their Performances Should Be Imitations

This may disappoint a lot of people. Despite us getting a few trailers for Solo: A Star Wars Story, there has been surprisingly little in terms of the actual performances from the leads in those trailers (Some may think that Lucasfilm is hiding them, but that’s a different story altogether.

But what exactly do we want from these performances? Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to bring back both Han Solo and Lando Calrissian — and actors Harrison Ford and Billy Dee Williams have left quite the legacy. As it stands, neither Alden Ehrenreich nor Donald Glover can perfectly replicate their performances.

But is that a bad thing? Speaking on The Star Wars Show, Glover spoke his mind about what kind of performances we should be getting from them.

“You don’t an imitation in this kind of thing. You just want someone to exude that feeling currently.”

I have to agree. As I stated above, these actors are great, but they are not Harrison Ford and Billy Dee Williams. If all you’re doing is an impression, then you’re not making the character you’re own, and you’re just creating an empty shell of a character. With this film, I’m hoping that these two give solid performances on their own, all while giving us just a bit of that same feeling that the two previous actors did.
