Solo: Emilia Clarke’s Character Has Known Han Since They Were Kids

In addition to the few characters we already know from the Star Wars franchise, Solo: A Star Wars Story will also introduce more than a handful of brand-new characters we know nothing about. On that list are the likes of Enfys Nest, Beckett, and of course, Emilia Clarke’s Qi’Ra.

So far, we’ve seen bits and pieces of the character in the trailers. She has ridden with Han in his landspeeder, and even partially narrated a certain portion of the trailer. She comes across as the intimidating femme fatale of the movie, and the type of woman who can put Han in his place. But what is his connection to Han?

Speaking on the Star Wars Show, co-writer Lawrence Kasdan revealed that she has known Han since he was a kid.

“Qi’ra and Han have a shared background that is very rough,” he told the show.

This wasn’t the only detail revealed regarding Han. In addition to Qi’Ra, in these rough times, he took to creating his own family. Here’s what co-writer Jon Kasdan had to say.

“We talked about Han growing up in an urban environment. He really grew up on the streets, where he had to learn to be quick, where he had to learn to survive. And we wanted him thrust into sort of a makeshift family.”

Even in the midst of truly terrible things, many folks turn to others for emotional support, and it looks like Qi’Ra, Lando, and Chewie are that support for Han.

What do you think of Qi’Ra’s connection to Han and Han’s own rough backstory? Let us know your thoughts down below!
