According to the latest Barside Buzz, Sony are casting Miles Morales for an upcoming movie, plus Marvel close to a Spider-Man 4 director. Let’s start with Miles Morales. The information comes from Jeff Sneider on last week’s The Hot Mic show. I did see this last week, but felt like it wasn’t a big enough story on its own to cover.
In the Streamlabs section at the end of the show Sneider says he’s heard Sony are starting the casting process for a live-action Miles Morales. Not for the MCU, but their own SSMU movies. This would be far bigger news to me if it was for the MCU. Sadly I have very little interest in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Though, having a Spider-Man, finally, is a good idea, I’ll concede that point.
Second up today we have a new rumor from Daniel RPK on his Patreon service. RPK claims that Marvel are very close to choosing a director for Spider-Man 4. The leaker also claims that the symbiote left behind in the No Way Home post-credit scene will play a part in the film and that the recent similar scene in the Venom: The Last Dance trailer was a misdirection.

So, for those unaware, at the end of No Way Home, we see Tom Hardy’s venom, seemingly also in the 616 Universe. He leaves alongside all the other alt-verse characters, but a little piece of symbiote is left behind. The trailer for The Last Dance then shows this same location, like it happened in Venom’s own Universe.
Now this could simply be another Sony attempt to make audiences think their movies are MCU. I mean that weird Vulture cameo at the end of Morbius made zero sense and was pointless thus far. Michael Keaton got paid and far as he could tell, they had no plan for why he was actually there. So even if this is played as Venom’s own Universe in The Last Dance, who cares? It’s just the awful continuity of the SSMU that will be smashed, yet again.
As for the symbiote being a part of Spider-Man 4? That I am very much interested to see. I love the black suit storyline, and Spider-Man 3 just didn’t do it for me. Would love to see this reimagined in the MCU.
