Everything tends to go wrong on a quick vacation to the Caribbean.
In the family-friendly comedy Summer’s Last Resort, a daughter tries to stop her mother’s boyfriend from making a marriage proposal on an island vacation as that relationship and trip go awry.
The film stars Violet McGraw, Jerry O’Connell, and Sophia Bush, with Tim Rozon (Wynonna Earp). The film is directed by Melanie Scrofano (Clickbait: Unfollowed, SurrealEstate) and written by Emily Andras (Wynonna Earp).

A high-strung teen’s vacation takes a turn when she’s trapped with her free-spirited mom’s try-hard boyfriend, who also happens to be her vice principal. Determined to end the romance, she hatches a secret breakup plan that spirals into a week of sunburns, sabotage, and unexpected feelings.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta chatted with the lead actors, Violet McGraw, Jerry O’Connell, and Sophia Bush. We talked about a range of topics, including comedy chemistry, physical comedy, the dolphin scene, and Violet McGraw’s first on-screen romance.
Violet McGraw is best known for her role as Cady in the horror films M3GAN and M3GAN 2.0. Her acting debut came in the 2016 television series Love as Nina, and her first feature film was 2018’s Ready Player One. She was nominated for an OFTA Television Award for Best Ensemble in a Motion Picture or Limited Series for The Haunting of Hill House. Also, she played the young Yelena Belova in the Marvel films Black Widow and Thunderbolts*.
Jerry O’Connell is best known for playing Quinn Mallory in the science-fiction television series Sliders. His featured on-screen role was with Vern Tessio in Rob Reiner’s Stand By Me. He has appeared in numerous films, including Joe’s Apartment, Jerry Maguire, Scream 2, Tomcats, Kangaroo Jack, and Piranha 3D. He voiced Commander Jack Ransom in the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks.
Sophia Bush is best known as Brooke Davis in the teen drama series One Tree Hill and in the police drama Chicago P.D. In 2022, she produced and starred as Dr. Samantha “Sam” Griffith in the medical drama series Good Sam. Her film appearances included John Tucker Must Die, The Hitchhiker, Marshall, Acts of Violence, and Incredibles 2. Bush co-hosted the podcast Drama Queens with former One Tree Hill co-star Hilarie Burton, Bethany Joy Lenz, and Robert Buckley.
