Alice Winocour combines her personal experience in her latest film Couture. With other stories inspired by women she’s met during Fashion Week. Starring Angelina Jolie, Louis Garrel, Ella Rumpf, Garance Marillier, Anyier Anel and Vincent Lindon. 

The Synopsis

Academy Award® winner Angelina Jolie stars as Maxine, an American filmmaker who arrives in Paris during the frenzy of Fashion Week. Drawn into a love story with a familiar collaborator as her path intersects with women of different ages and cultural backgrounds – all fighting to take control of their own destinies – Maxine finds herself on a deeply personal journey of self-discovery that forces her to confront the choices shaping her life.

The French filmmaker got her education at La Fémis. Her beginnings as a story teller were through three short films: Orphée, Kitchen and Magic Colada. By 2012 she made her first full length film as a writer and director with Augustine. Later came other films like Mustang, Disorder and Proxima. Today she is known internationally after getting four nominations in Cannes on different occasions.

I connected with Alice Winocour via Zoom to talk about the making of Couture. She shared more how she found the expiration for the stories in the film, and also opened up about getting to relieve a particular scene of the story. Since experiencing her own battle against cancer and much more!
