If you’ve been following the coverage and production of Marvel Studios and Sony’s upcoming Spidey flick, Spider-Man: Far From Home, you’ll know that Jake Gyllenhaal has been attached to the movie for quite some time. What’s more, his actual role of the film as Mysterious has been largely public for almost equally as long. Sure, none of this was confirmed, but it was like one of those big open secrets.
But it’s always fun to get those official confirmations. The studios and actors tend to make a big hoopla about it and it’s always a good time. In advance of Brazil Comic-Con, Jake Gyllenhaal took to Instagram to confirm what we already knew, but he does it in a creative way. Go ahead and check out his Instagram post below and I’ll meet you underneath.

In the caption, Gyllenhaal states he discovers he’s not playing Spider-Man. Of course, he is reading an issue with Mysterio headlining, and based on his reaction, we can infer this is one big confirmation of the popular villain.
Unfortunately, we don’t really know just how Mysterio will play into the plot of Spider-Man: Far From Home, which will see Peter Parker in Europe, but it’s safe to say Marvel Studios has earned plenty of our trust by now.
