While Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has been lauded as perhaps the best and most comic book accurate version of the character to grace the big screen, there have been some complaints about the way the MCU has handled him. Such complaints often have to do with the suit. One is that his suit does so much that he’s basically Iron Man, and the other is that he switches his suits too frequently.

When we saw the set photos and trailers for Spider-Man: Far From Home, that complaint was somewhat highlighted when we saw the Stealth Suit. To some, it’s a bit odd that in one film alone, we’ll be getting three or four suits: the standard suit, the darker suit, the Iron Spider suit, and now the Stealth Suit. But what purpose does that Stealth Suit serve? What can it possibly do that no other suit can?

Speaking with /Film, actor Tom Holland filled fans in on its purpose:

“It’s awesome. It’s not actually capable of much. We sort of stripped Spider-Man back and now it’s him relying on his powers, but it’s his ability to act like Spider-Man without the world knowing that Spider-Man is there. It’s just an idea that he has to keep his identity from his friends. But it’s awesome. It’s really, really cool. I can go to the bathroom, which is a huge bonus. It looks super cool.”

This is a pretty cool idea. While I do love all the capabilities the suit brings, I can understand those complaints that it simply has too many capabilities. In allowing Peter to focus on using his more innate abilities, it makes the fights that much more personal, which isn’t a bad thing — and to do so in disguise makes a whole lot of sense.
