Spider-Man Leans On Mysterio In Chinese TV Spot, Film To Open Early In China

Needless to say, Spider-Man has some issues to sort through in the next film, Spider-Man: Far From Home. While he managed to survive the confrontation with Thanos, not everyone was so lucky. Specifically, Iron Man sacrificed himself in an attempt to save the entire universe, and with him being Spidey’s father figure and all, it’s one hell of a blow for a kid in high school. He’s bound to need another paternal figure.

In the latest Chinese TV spot we get to hear Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio play that role. He talks about the difficulty of having to be the superhero and all the negatives that come with the job, including the death of loved ones you are fighting to protect. But Mysterio isn’t the only one to give Spidey a pep talk. Also filling in that role are Nick Fury and Happy Hogan.

Also of note, Spider-Man: Far From Home is opening a tad early in China with a June 28 release, which is five days ahead of its launch in North America. Given that Spider-Man: Homecoming launched in China two months after everywhere else — and still managed to be its best-performing overseas market is impressive, and Sony is likely hoping to capitalize on the character’s popularity.
