If you’re locked in jail for a long time, what kind of a deal would you make to reduce your time? Would you be willing to do something as radical as to allow them to experiment on your body? This is the case in the new Netflix film, Spiderhead. This June we will see Chris Hemsworth as Steve Abnesti experimenting on inmates trying to fix different human conditions. It is set to be released exclusively on their streaming service on June 17th. To get us ready for the film, Netflix has released a new trailer as well as some first-look images. Check them all out below!
According to Hemsworth’s character, “they are making the world a better place”. But of course, the trailer says otherwise. What stands out the most about this trailer for Spiderhead is the talent that we see on screen. Along with Hemsworth, we see Miles Teller, Jurnee Smollett, Mark Paguio, and Tess Haubrich. While it does by no means guarantee it a success, its enough to get most people’s attention and at least take a look at the film being that it will be released on the streaming platform.
Here is the synopsis for Netflix’s Spiderhead
In a state-of-the-art penitentiary run by brilliant visionary Steve Abnesti (Chris Hemsworth), inmates wear a surgically attached device that administers dosages of mind-altering drugs in exchange for commuted sentences. There are no bars, no cells, or orange jumpsuits. In Spiderhead, incarcerated volunteers are free to be themselves. Until they’re not. At times, they’re a better version. Need to lighten up? There’s a drug for that. At a loss for words? There’s a drug for that, too.
But when two subjects, Jeff (Miles Teller) and Lizzy (Jurnee Smollett), form a connection, their path to redemption take a twistier turn, as Abnesti’s experiments start to push the limits of free will altogether. Based on The New Yorker short story by George Saunders, SPIDERHEAD is a genre-bending and darkly funny psychological thriller directed by Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy, Top Gun: Maverick) and written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland).
Netflix’s Spiderhead will be released on its streaming platform on June 17th, 2022.
