Standalone Joker Movie To Film This coming May

Justice League be damned. It looks like DC Films and Warner Bros. aren’t stopping for anybody or anything.

As we know, Aquaman has been in the can for some time and is set to release later this year, and Shazam! is currently in the process of filming. But if you thought that DC Films would be holding back to make sure these two films do well before continuing on, you are sadly mistaken.

According to a new production listing shared by The Tracking Board editor-in-chief Jeff Sneider, the standalone Joker film is set to begin production this May.

This is the film that is set to be directed by Hangover helmer Todd Phillips, and is set to be a gritty ’80s crime thriller.

When we last heard, actor Joaquin Phoenix was in talks to star in the leading role of the Clown Prince of Crime himself, though those talks have never been confirmed.

Also of interest in the production post is a little man named Martin Scorsese. In the initial report, it was stated that they were hoping to get him on board as producer. The goal here would be to utilize his knowledge of the organized crime genre to help better the film. According to this listing, he is “set” as a producer, meaning that his talents have likely been secured to assist on the film.
