Star Trek: Karl Urban Thinks The Studio Would Be Crazy Not To Do Tarantino’s Movie

With Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, now out in theaters, conversations have now inevitably shifted to his next (and potentially final) film. Of course, one direction Tarantino can head in is creating an all-original film, but another direction he could go in is the Star Trek film, which Tarantino made the story for and The Revenant screenwriter Mark Smith actually executed.

As of this writing, it is unknown if Tarantino is seriously considering directing it, but is it possible the studio could put the kibosh on it simply because it doesn’t fit the Star Trek brand? One of the film franchise stars, Karl Urban, thinks that would be insane, as he told Huffpo.

“This is a project that I have no information about, really. I haven’t read a script for it, but I understand the basic concept of it. I think Quentin Tarantino doing that film would be phenomenal. He is definitely one of the most exciting filmmakers that’s currently working and if he has an interest in making a Star Trek film, I think the studio would be insane not to let him do that.”

Admittedly, I even think the studio would think they’d be crazy NOT to go through with this film. As of right now, it feels like the ball is in Tarantino’s court. It all depends on what the filmmaker wants to do with the final years of his filmmaking career.

What do you think of Urban’s comments? Do you think the studio would ever NOT allow Tarantino to go through with his idea if he wanted? Let us know your thoughts down below!
