Quentin Tarantino seems to be opening up some doors for the Star Trek franchise. It’s an incredibly beloved one by its fanbase, but the latest theatrical offering, while a decent film, didn’t really set the box office on fire. However, with Tarantino potentially at the helm, and an R rating in the bag, there is a lot of renewed enthusiasm for what the franchise could offer.

One actor who also seems to be reinvigorated by a Tarantino-directed Star Trek is none other than Star Trek: The Next Generation star Patrick Stewart. Should Tarantino’s story utilize Jean-Luc Picard, would Stewart even be willing to come back?

Speaking with THR, Stewart answered that very question:

“People are always saying to me, ‘Will you be Jean-Luc Picard again?’ And I cannot think that would be possible, but there are ways in which something like that might come about. But one of my dreams is to work with Tarantino. I admire his work so much, and to be in a Tarantino film would give me so much satisfaction. So, if he is going to direct something to do with Star Trek and there was the possibility of dear old Jean-Luc showing up again and doing that for Mr Tarantino, I would embrace it.”

Well, we can’t say we disagree. Sadly, we have no idea what the actual story from the film would be. In the Nerdist interview from 2015, Tarantino mentioned two different time-traveling ideas — one pulled from the original series, and one pulled from The Next Generation. We’ll have to wait and see what the story calls for before we get too excited.

I’d love to see a Deep Space Nine sequel with all of that era’s characters (TNG, DS9, Voyager). Honestly, a DS9 movie would be PERFECT for Tarantino.

      THIS! So much THIS!

Yeah, I actually think Tarantino could do a lot with the Jem’Hadar and their drug addiction. We’d get a scene of some of them regressive feral and tearing apart a Vorta for sure.

    • That’s a great point. I really enjoyed DS9’s Dominion War. Frankly, I’m a wee bit tired of Klingons, so Jem’Hadar and Cardassians would be very cool indeed.

    Engage mother fuckers!!!

(*or to put it another way….. PLEEEASE….Make it so, Number One)

Capping his Star Trek Career with an R-rated (Tarantino) movie after capping his X-Men career with an R-rate Logan movie, would be just the way to crown an awesome career for Sir Patrick.

    • Yeah, this is super cool news. If Tarantino adapts the “Yesterday’s Enterprise” episode, it would make a lot of sense, given the time-travel/alternate universe aspects.

I think it’s a fantastic idea. I’m just so stoked with the idea of this film, I want it confirmed to be happening lock, stock, and barrel soon!

    • The whole idea is so out of left field. I really respect Paramount for taking this chance. Trek needs a major kick in the ass, and this will undoubtedly do it. Can’t wait!

I wonder if he would have to work with someone new as DOP as he has never really played with CGI too much. The effects would really throw off the blueprint on how he works. I’m intrigued enough to hope he could pull it off.
