Star Wars: Cara Dune Toys Cancelled Following Gina Carano Firing

It looks as though Disney has taken one step further after the firing of Gina Carano. Even Cara Dune toys cancelled it seems according to Hasbro who make Star Wars figures. As revealed by The GWW‘s KC Walsh below, Big Bad Toystore are sending the following mail out to customers regarding Cara Dune figures.

Here is the relevant part of the statement copied out a little easier to read.

We have been informed by Hasbro that they have cancelled production of the Star Wars: The Black Series 6″ Cara Dune (The Mandalorian) and will not be fulfilling our order. Unfortunately this means we must cancel our pre-orders for the item. We apologize for the inconvenience and greatly appreciate your understanding.

Now, as far as I am concerned this will have one major effect on the toy business. Current Cara Dune figures will now escalate in price due to rarity. Basically, if you have a Cara Dune figure, still in it’s packaging, keep it for a few years. I expect within a week or two you will see eBay prices sky rocket for this figure.

I also have to point out that I am not sure of the logic behind this decision from Disney. Surely there will be a load of these figures already produced which will now become waste for the incinerator? Also, despite Carano’s firing, she will always be in The Mandalorian Season 1 and 2. That means despite her firing, fans and collectors will still want the figure.  Phasing out the toys as Carano no longer appears seems a more logical approach here. I mean, are Disney so worried that a Cara Dune action figure will make collectors somehow follow Carano’s political views? Gimme a break.

Carano made an illogical statement and used a bad analogy to express her point. It’s not like she was found guilty of being a serial killer. Did Disney really need to ask Hasbro to cancel all production on her likeness? Additionally, I always thought there was a chance Carano could be brought back, but I’m becoming very skeptical of that now. Will Lucasfilm recast the role and therefore Hasbro will be making new Cara Dune figures, or will she simply be killed off screen? Guess we will find out more when The Mandalorian Season 3 begins filming this April?

What do you think of the Cara Dune toys cancelled news? Inevitable, extreme, or do you not care either way? Thoughts below as always.
