Star Wars: Cassian Andor Production Update, Kathleen Kennedy Departure Imminent? | LRM Top Shelf Rumors

Where Andor Ends And Why Tony Gilroy Is Not Directing Season 2

Welcome, welcome, folks to LRM Top Shelf Rumors, where we give you latest exclusive rumors courtesy of some of our top-secret sources. This week, we’re talking about Star Wars yet again. After all, what is a week in film and TV news without a couple big rumors from a galaxy far, far away? More specifically, we have rumors regarding the Cassian Andor series and maybe a bit of insight as to the leadership over at Lucasfilm. Could Kathleen Kennedy be heading out soon? We wondered ourselves.

Cassian Andor

Let’s start with the rumor that has more steady ground to stand on. We already know that Tony Gilroy is on board to write the Cassian Andor Star Wars series. That isn’t really super ridiculously new news. That much was revealed late last year. What is new came last week, when it was reported that the series was going to be delayed — also due to script issues.

The rumor came from Thomas Polito of The GWW, as it was said the production start date of June 2020 has been pulled and a new date hasn’t been set.

Our own source has stated that Tony Gilroy is still hard at work on script rewrites, and while there is definitely a delay in production, it’s not nearly as bad as some would think. Our source says, barring any other issues, that the Cassian Andor show should hit production around late July or early August. So, while there have been issues with the show, the ones for Cassian Andor seem mild, at best.

But that’s not all we asked our source.

Leadership Change At Lucasfilm?

Because we’re a bunch of tin foil hat-wearing weirdos, we do connect dots where there may be none to connect. Frankly, this whole thing with the Obi-Wan series delays and the Cassian Andor series delays set off our Spidey Senses. Some of us thought that these troubles could perhaps be indicative of a leadership change at Lucasfilm.

Now, keep in mind, Kathleen Kennedy has a contract to act as president of Lucasfilm through 2021. That being said, all this stuff seemed kinda fishy, and we asked our source if any of these troubles were actually intentional delays thanks to impending new leadership. Perhaps they wouldn’t want to begin production on these shows without new leadership in place? Sadly, our suspicions weren’t fully confirmed, but instead…massaged? All our source said was they “knew some things” and that announcements would be made at Star Wars Celebration this year.

Yes, these are mostly tea leaves we’re reading here, but it is a bit suspicious how our source answered this question and how cagey they seemed to be compared to normal. Do you think some sort of change in leadership at Lucasfilm from Kathleen Kennedy is possible before 2022? Let us know your thoughts down below!
