Earlier this week, I wrote about a user on Reddit, (whom I won’t mention by name here again so as not to promote them further) who had claimed to have information that a Star Wars: Episode 9 teaser was coming before Superbowl. I pegged it as a wild rumor initially.
However, after this, the person then claimed the teaser had not been submitted to CBS after all and might not be happening and at that point, I explained how the user had managed to prove to the moderators on the sub-Reddit that he was possibly genuine. Well, it turns out this person was simply spreading fake information for, as they put it, an ‘experiment’.

Now, I don’t want to give this person any more coverage, so I just want to point out to our readers that this person has hoodwinked many with this little scam and make sure all our readers are aware that this was not true in any way. This does highlight the very real problems with trying to pass on leaked information and it’s something I’ve talked about before. For some reason, Star Wars above all other franchises seems to encourage people to post completely made up bobbins as leaks. As someone who tries to follow all these leads to share them here, I can attest that 90% of what I hear is immediately tagged as BS and ignored. I guess what’s annoying here is that this person went to great lengths to fake a CBS ID badge for their ‘verification’ and ended up being treated with more respect than they deserved.
We will always take any leaks, even those from previously accurate sources with a huge grain of salt, and we always warn you readers upfront. But it just shows you how much garbage we have to sift through to find anything of note, so be warned about any future leaks between now and December.
I doubt there’s anything worth discussing about this in the comment section below but, it’s there if you want to say anything as always. I also apologize personally for being taken in by this and not being more cautious with the second article.
