The last thing we saw unofficially from Star Wars: Episode 9 was some photos taken from set, if you remember these photo’s showed some of our old characters and a few new ones doing something in a field. If you don’t recall and don’t mind spoilers, feel free to click on the related section below.

Now we have potentially a bit of information which relates to these set photos to share. Before we start I’ll peg this as a potential leak only right now, as we only have one source who claims to have worked as an extra on the movie. To me this seems like it could be genuine, but I always try and stay as skeptical as I can. The leaker did share some details to try and prove they were working as an extra on the movie, however, without giving away exactly who they are and getting both fired and worse, it’s not easy to do.
It goes without saying that if this leak is genuine that there are some pretty big spoilers here, so let’s just throw up the usual warning so you can decide whether to look away or proceed.

Okay still with me? Cool, let’s get right to the source here. A user by the name of Temiriblagg1 who claims to have worked as an extra on 2 scenes from the upcoming movie decided to share a few select details on Reddit, you can find the thread Here. I would suggest having a look at all he discusses outside of the opening post as he was questioned and even trolled as a fake by many users. However, for the most part he seems to have convinced or rather intrigued some Redditors who are confirmed to have worked as extras on Star Wars movies previously.
I won’t list here everything he said in the thread, but I will relay the big bullet points.
The scene from the leaked set photo linked above is set on the planet Batuu and the leaker claims this is early on in the movie, if not potentially the close of the first act. He says he knows this as it was mentioned by accident rather than the extra’s being told this info as something they needed to know.
He also claims that actress Naomi Ackie who is a new addition to the movie and can be seen with the large hairstyle in the photo’s is actually playing Veranada or Vera Calrissian, the daughter of Lando. He says that both names were used by other characters during the scene. So it could be a nickname, or they may be trying out different names to see which sounds best?
The scene in question was on the same planet of Batuu as the photo’s were from and after being shown these photo’s the leaker confirmed that all the costumes worn were identical to the scenes he was a part of. The scenes he did film he says were underground on this planet in a giant big set supposed to be an underground bunker or stronghold. This set was filled with various aliens in full costume along with Finn, Poe and Chewie. Dominic Monaghan was present and filming the scene, apparently his character name was never mentioned but he was heavily present in the scene.
The biggest thing here is that the leaker says the scene sets up the capture of a First Order officer, who is handed over to the Resistance, this officer is revealed to be none other than General Hux, who cowers for his life. Monaghan’s character prods him with some device to the displeasure of Naomi Ackie’s character.
He also claims that his friend shot a scene with Poe, Finn and Rey, though the only thing of note he would say is that Rey has a lightsaber hilt on her belt.
The leaker also talks later on in the thread about JJ’s relaxed directing style and the way the scene was re-shot several times with very small changes in performances and dialogue. He refused to reveal the actual dialogue used in case it narrowed down his part too much.
So…. Whether you choose to believe this leak or dismiss it along with the countless fake reports we get for every Star Wars movie is up to you. Back in the Prequel days when the internet was still young we had leaks like this showing up every other day and 90% of them were complete garbage. But something does ring true for me with this report and if I have been taken in I’ll hold my hands up after the fact.
