STAR WARS: Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy & Director Rian Johnson Heading To STAR WARS Celebration

As the name would indicate, Star Wars Celebration is an event thrown every year that celebrates the long-running franchise. It’s often been the place that exclusive or early footage can be seen (if you’ll recall, that’s where we got to see the behind-the-scenes footage for Rogue One, but the audience in attendance were the only ones able to see an exclusive teaser). We expect this year to also be a special one for Star Wars fans, as this is the year that we’ll be getting Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the eighth chapter in the ongoing Skywalker saga.

While we never really know for sure what footage we can expect going into an event, we have a hell of a time speculating up until the days come to pass. Over a week ago, there were rumblings that not only would we be getting a behind-the-scenes featurette for the upcoming film, but that we’d also be getting our very first teaser of what’s to come.

Of course, those aren’t the only things to get excited about. StarWars.com has announced that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson will alsobe in attendance at the Celebration. The panel they’re flying out to Orlando for is being called a “special panel discussion.”

“While specifics are still under wraps, the talk promises to feature a few surprises and special guests, kickstarting what is sure to be an exciting and memorable weekend.”

While we don’t necessarily want to count our chickens before they hatch, this really sounds like a semi-confirmation that we’ll be getting a teaser at this event. Sure, Rian Johnson’s attendance is almost a given since he’s directing the upcoming movie, but to have him participate in the panel set to kickstart the whole event? If Disney and Lucasfilm were smart, they’d know that starting off with Star Wars: The Last Jedi footage would be a surefire way to kick off a memorable weekend.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
