Star Wars: Episode IX. Today marks exactly one year away from the final installment of the sequel trilogy and a film that will close out the Skywalker saga. We know that Mark Hamill is returning in one way or another and Billy Dee Williams’ Lando Calrissian will also be involved to an unknown extent.
Well, today we get confirmation of the opposite sort, information about who will not be appearing. Natalie Portman will not be reprising her Padmé Amidala role in any capacity. Natalie Portman recently appeared on AM2DM by BuzzFeed was asked about the possibility of her returning to the franchise.

Portman’s reaction says it all, and to be honest this is the first I’ve heard of the rumor of her appearing mentioned by the host. This makes sense as I don’t see how having Padmé appear would be relevant to the story at this point. I have heard rumors of Hayden Christensen possibly being a part of the film, and that just on the surface sounds far more likely that a Padmé cameo.
After the divisiveness of Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi J.J. Abrams Episode IX will either mend the fanbase or further drive it apart. Hopefully we’ll be getting a trailer soon, rumors of footage dropping before year’s end have been making their way around the internet for the last couple of weeks or so.
