Obi-Wan may have a production start date.

While the world of Star Wars in film may have a lot of question marks, Lucasfilm is trudging ahead on Disney+. The Mandalorian has its second season fast approaching and as we have reported previously, Disney has a whole host of shows that they plan on making around that same timeline. But that’s not to say it’s the only arena they plan on exploring. We already know that an Obi-Wan Kenobi series is happening, and for months it’s just been a matter of when.

The folks over at The Illuminerdi broke the news earlier today that the Obi-Wan series has a production start date — March 2021 in Los Angeles. We reached out to our own source for confirmation and they agreed that a March start date is “pretty much guaranteed.”

Of course, as with everything in showbiz, it’s not set in stone. Add in the unpredictability of COVID-19, and it’s hard to take any real news as gospel these days. That being said, as of this writing, it is clear that the studio is very much planning a March start date, which is great news.

Considering all the drama surrounding the scripts of the series earlier this year, this is great news. Plus, as we reported earlier, Hayden Christensen has signed on to return as Anakin Skywalker. We expect that flashbacks to The Clone Wars will make up a good chunk of the series’ narrative.
