According to the latest Star Wars Barside Buzz the Rey Sequel movie is currently casting three major roles. So far the only character confirmed to appear in the movie is Rey herself played by Daisy Ridley. We also head Lucasfilm were keen to have John Boyega return as Finn, but that remains to be seen. However, now Daniel RPK claims on his Patreon that the movie is casting three major roles.
Two Jedi Apprentices who will be trained by Rey, and a villain.
Now, we have to say the two Jedi Apprentices have been rumored for quite some time. Remember, we’ve heard that in the original version of this movie by Damon Lindelof, the leads were the two Padawans. Rey was much older and would have been recast to someone they likened to Helen Mirren. The entire plot wasn’t a page one rewrite, but it was decided to give Rey a bigger role and bring back Daisy Ridley. The setting for the movie is now 15 years post-The Rise of Skywalker. That’s as per Kathleen Kennedy.

So it tracks that these apprentice roles would remain. As for the villain? Well, you can’t have a Star Wars movie without a bad guy. What shape that could take remains to be seen, just as long as it’s not Sith. Someone can turn to the Darkside, they just should not be Sith. In my humble opinion anyway. Though, it does not have to be a Force user, does it?
Last week as you can see above we had a claimed title for the movie which was quickly debunked by good sources. It remains to be seen how this one will be aimed. However, my hope is that they call this Episode 1 of the Star Wars (New Subtitle Saga). Or, just have it be a series a movies in that era that don’t have to be direct sequels like Marvel does in the MCU?
The Rey Sequel is due to begin filming this year pending final script approval. Therefore it makes sense that Lucasfilm would be casting for some of the larger roles in the film already.
What do you think of this Star Wars rumor that the Rey Sequel movie is currently casting three major roles? Thoughts below as always.
