Star Wars Episode X: A New Beginning Title Debunked | Barside Buzz

We shared a rumor that the title of the Rey Sequel was Star Wars Episode X: A New Beginning, however this has been debunked.

Yesterday we shared a rumor that the title of the upcoming Rey Sequel was Star Wars Episode X: A New Beginning, however this has been debunked by two good sources. The information came from TCC who do have a great hit rate and I’ll vouch for that. However, that hit rate is mostly based on Marvel leaks not Star Wars.

Since that story hit two new sources have come out to debunk this as the title. Specifically debunking the most important part of this, that it is not being called Episode X. I’ll go in order of lower to higher credibility here. However, that is not a slight on Jordan Maison who we have shared information with in the past. Ergo, we know Maison has Lucasfilm sources, because our own old reliable source and theirs had matching information. Here is what he had to say on social media.

As said I trust Jordan. However, not quite as much as I do Star Wars News Net. Those guys are one step away from an official site these days and they only cover official news mostly. Occasionally they will debunk a rumor like this and when they do so it’s clearly coming from an official Lucasfilm source. Here is what they had to say regarding the title.

‘That is not the case at all, we hear. The project, which remains deep in development at Lucasfilm with Steven Knight writing the script, has been referred to internally as New Jedi Order. This is the tentative title that was announced at Star Wars Celebration last April. No Episode X there. And though A New Beginning may have been floated at some point as a title possibility, as we reported last October, we understand that it hasn’t moved beyond that point since then.’

Therefore whilst I only have the same information you do, I find myself inclined to side with the two new sources debunking the claim. TCC has updated their original story with Maison’s response, but they have not dropped their claim for now.

Which, basically means this is all a non-story and we are no farther forward than we were, Back to calling this Rey Sequel or Obaid-Chinoy Star Wars movie then. Urgh, I wish they’d just choose titles sooner for these projects. It’s always the same with a Star Wars movie like the title is really important. Have they seen the average Star Wars movie title? They’re usually a bit out there.

As you were then fanboys and fangirls.

What do you think of the Star Wars Episode X: A New Beginning title being debunked? I must admit I’m happy this won’t be called Episode X, what about you? Thoughts below as always.
