Star Wars Rumor: Billie Lourd May Have Stood In For Her Mother In Key Flashback For The Rise Of Skywalker

We’ve had to be a little carful lately of some of the rumors and leaks coming out of Star Wars: Episode 9 The Rise of Skywalker. Namely because one of the recent rumored leaks essentially gave away the ending of the movie, which to me is going too far with spoilers and it stops being a fun game of speculation.

However this latest rumored leak is a little more what I like, something to ponder and come up with your own theories about. It could still be considered SPOILERS by some, so obligatory warning for SPOILERS before proceeding.

The latest rumor coming from Star Wars leak specialists MSW is related to Leia Organa. According to the outlet, whilst no one stood in for Carrie Fisher after her sad passing in the role of General Leia, daughter Billie Lourd could well have stood in for her in a flashback scene.

The outlet says that there is a flashback to just after the events of Return of the Jedi between a young Luke and a young Leia. The scene apparently has the pair reacting to a vision which ends up influencing Leia’s decision whether to train as a Jedi or not. Leia being un-trained in this sequel trilogy without a proper explanation always felt at odds to me, given how Return of the Jedi ended and the instructions of Yoda to Luke on his deathbed. But, if they can incorporate a reason for this into the story, then I might be more satisfied (depending on the story).

The thing to remember here is that Lourd was rumored to be playing a young version of her mother in both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi and neither turned out to be true. This could work though, as the face would have to be CGI, for de-aging techniques anyway, as would Mark Hamill. Or, I suppose they could just get Sebastian Stan who plays Bucky in the MCU, he looks so much like a young Mark Hamill anyway?

Would you like to see a flashback scene between Luke and Leia which revolves around the decision to have her train as a Jedi or not? Share any thoughts and ideas you have in the usual spot below.
