Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Announcement Starring Jude Law

We have a release window as Star Wars: Skeleton Crew premiere's this Christmas and also features both matte paintings and stop-motion.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew was announced at Star Wars Celebration starring Jude Law. This of course is the proper title for the mysterious ‘Grammar Rodeo’ show we have been talking about for some time. Like we had said, and then had confirmed by trades, The show primarily focuses on a younger cast. However it was also revealed the show is set in the same period as the other MandoVerse shows, post- ROTJ. Our sources had heard this show might be High Republic, but clearly thy got their wires crossed. However we were not the only ones who heard the same thing, so forgive us for that one.

I think we were the first to back up the Grammar Rodeo codename although our sources worded it slightly differently. As for  Jude Law, he was was rumored for the adult role in this already, not by us. However the actor is now the only confirmed cast member of Skeleton Crew.

As for details, they remain slim on the ground. As already reported through the recent Vanity Fair coverage, Skeleton Crew was created and developed by Jon Watts and others and both Favreau and Filoni are exec producers. We got an official title, which you can see above and there was some artwork that we cannot show here also. It was just a starship with some people in the foreground backs to the viewer.

Reportedly Jon Watts said this of Skeleton Crew:

“This is a show that we have been working on for a really long time. It’s the story of a group of kids, about 10 years, from a tiny little planet who accidentally get lost in the Star Wars galaxy. It’s a story of their journey and finding a way home.”

Now that’s very vague details. What I am most intrigued by is how this could fit into the overall MandoVerse story. Remember back when LRM were first to report we were getting an interconnected set of shows. Mando was already out, but we called The Book of Boba Fett, A Thrawn/Ezra (nada so far) centric show, Ahoska, and an unnamed show we could get no more information on. Later when we revealed Gina Carrano was getting her own show, the now cancelled Rangers of the New Republic, we just assumed that was the unnamed show. However now we think back and wonder if it was Skeleton Crew all along? Maybe not, it’s curious to speculate on though.

The point remains that I also assume Skeleton Crew will be part of that overall story being told. I’m therefore intrigued to start working out why, and far more excited for Skeleton Crew than I was when we thought it was High Republic.

What do you think of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew starring Jude Law being announced? It should begin filming this year and hit Disney+ later in 2023. As always, leave any thoughts you have below, or over on Discord.
