Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 2 Will See The Return Of This Season 1 Character

The Mandalorian Season 2

Filming for The Mandalorian Season 2 should be underway right now, if not for Coronavirus. However, the wheels are still turning over at Lucasfilm with what staff can work on from home. This week he heard that Michael Biehn had been cast in Season 2 of The Mandalorian. Now we have both confirmations of Biehn’s casting, but news of returning Season 1 character.

According to Deadline, the Michael Biehn story is legit and the actor has signed up to appear in Season 2 of The Mandalorian. However, they also weigh in with the fact that Bill Burr is returning to The Mandalorian for Season 2. Burr played Imperial sharpshooter-turned-mercenary Mayfield. Mayfield attempted to double-cross El Mando and found himself trapped in a prison for his troubles. One assumes that when Mayfield runs into Mando again, he is not going to be his best friend. Check out Mayfield from Season 1 below.

Deadline also say that Biehn will be playing a fellow Bounty Hunter from Mando’s past. We know that Carl Weathers and Gina Carrano are returning as Greef Karga and Cara Dune respectively. We also found out only recently that Rosario Dawson was signed up as a live-action version of Ahsoka Tano from The Clone Wars. Deadline also reports that they believe this is a recurring series regular role for Dawson.

Finally, we already know that Giancarlo Esposito is back as Moff Gideon. Esposito has teased his villainous role as more than one dimensional in Season 2. The actor has also talked about using Darksabers in filming once more, so we know he bis getting soe combat. There may be other more minor characters from Season 1 of The Mandalorian we don’t know about. There could also still be new cast additions to come in for Season 2 debuts as well.

As for Burr, well he was fine in his Episode 6 as Mayfield. Though, Episode 6 was not one of my favorite episodes from Season 1. I genuinely disliked Episodes 4, and 5 of The Mandalorian Season 1, but I didn’t dislike Episode 6. If Lucasfilm found another way to introduce Cara Dune, then Episodes 4/5 could have been cut out. This streamlining would have made for a better 6 episode Season in my opinion. I hope that’s something Lucasfilm has looked at for The Mandalorian Season 2. Telling one story from beginning to end across a 30-minute episode is a tricky task. Perhaps a two-part story would have been better?

What do you think of Bill Burr’s return as Mayfield in The Mandalorian Season 2? Leave your thought s below as always.
