The Podcast

A long time ago… In this not far, far away galaxy I ran a weekly Star Wars column called The Cantina. The end of each piece was called “Last Call” and topics rotated and eventually included a once-a-month podcast reviewing all of the Star Wars films leading to a release day group review of The Rise of Skywalker. Afterward, we reviewed Season 2 of The Mandalorian. You should really check those out HERE. Now, that glorious podcast has returned under the title of the original column and for the foreseeable future, we’ll be bringing weekly news, theories, reliable leaks, and more.

The Topic

The Mandalorian had been an amazing success for Disney, Lucasfilm, and the Disney+ streaming service, and they were looking to capitalize on it. For the first time since December 2017, the fandom seemed more united than divided, but it hasn’t lasted. From the unenthusiastic reactions to The High Republic and controversial firings to Legends and non-canon movies and shows (like the Ewok Adventures and Star Wars: Droids) getting acknowledgment from Disney, something strange is going on. Join us on this new journey into the galaxy far, far away, and the hopefully bright future of Star Wars

Question(s) of the week: How do you think the changing of Iger and Chapek will affect Star Wars in the long run? Is the franchise on a better path today with Bob rather than before, with Bob?

  • Everything that Kathleen Kennedy has really been behind has pretty much been a failure. The first real success that Disney Star Wars has had is under Favreau and Filoni. That’s all that Chapek needs to know.

If you want continued success, you don’t keep handing the reigns to the employee whose track record is underwhelming at best.

    • Disney doesn’t care. KK made an overall profit it seems. Yeah we can point to toys or park tickets but movies count for her name. So, investment to $ made is in her awful evil favor.

      • If money is the driving factor, they should look at the box office drop from Episode VII to Episode IX. It’s literally a billion dollars. That represents all of the money they could be making, but aren’t because of Kennedy’s mismanagement.

  • Oh no… No one has ever made fun of my voice and I had no idea that I stutter. Whatever shall I do?

    • Yeah. Asking for help is so terrible. I should just yell at random ppl. That’ll result in good friends willing to assist. Have a great day.

    • Hey LRM I know I push the limits, but where is this ass clowns ban? Making fun of a person who has any disability is one thing. Making fun of someone injured in a car accident is another. Making fun of a soldier in that situation is fucking garbage. Ban me too but fuck this guy and may his or her or their whatever the fuck soul rot in a shit stain hell.
