Starfield director Todd Howard gives a small update on the progress of Elder Scrolls VI and Indiana Jones Games coming from Bethesda.

Starfield director Todd Howard gives a small update on the progress of Elder Scrolls VI and Indiana Jones Games coming from Bethesda. Promoting the upcoming big Xbox exclusive game Starfield, which Howard has been working on for years now, he spoke to GQ Magazine. You can find everything Howard and other members of Bethesda had to say about Starfield in the linked article. However, there was some news around two upcoming projects.

First of all, Indiana Jones which will only be executive produced by Howard, not directed. Indiana Jones is being made by MachineGames under Bethesda and is already confirmed to be an Xbox exclusive. Here is the update from Howard on the next Indy game.

‘Howard is showing no sign of slowing down. As well as executive producing the Fallout show, he’s midway through executive producing an Indiana Jones game – a “bucket-list thing” for a man whose favourite movie is 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark. It’s developed by MachineGames, the team behind Wolfenstein. “They’ve got the whole Nazi killing thing down,” he says, “and they’re doing a really great job.”’

So midway through making the game would tell me we are still 1-2 years away from any kind of potential release date. I’m no expert, but these games tend to take 3-4 years minimum, with some very much longer. Kinda like the next game Howard is directing. The long awaited next installment of Elder Scrolls.

Elder Scrolls VI was announced 5 years ago. Yet it could be several years more before it see’s the light of day. GQ asked Howard if he regretted announcing the sequel so early?

“I have asked myself that a lot,” he says, slowly. “I don’t know, I probably would’ve announced it more casually.”

Howard goes on to reveal the game has a codename, though he won’t share it. Here is all he will say about what he has planned for Elder Scrolls VI.

“It’s like… I don’t want to answer, but I want to be polite. I will say that we want it to fill that role of the ultimate fantasy-world simulator.” He pauses for a moment. “And there are different ways to accomplish that given the time that has passed.”

Very vague, but for now, the team is focused on the release of Starfield and making sure that launch goes well. Starfield will release on Xbox and PC on September 1st. It will also be available on day one to Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Let us know what you think of this updates on Indiana Jones and Elder Scrolls VI. Thoughts below.
