Stellan Skarsgård On Why He Joined Andor Star Wars Series

In case you did not know Stellan Skarsgård Will be appearing in the Andor Star Wars series on Disney+. As you’d expect details are being kept under wraps so we have no idea who Skarsgård is playing. In fact about the only roles we can identify in Andor are Cassian himself and Mon Mothma, so far.

Skarsgård recently spoke to The Daily Beast and was asked what made him join the Andor series.

“As you know, they’ll shoot me if I say anything! I can’t even get a proper script. It’s printed on red paper so I can’t make any copies of it, it’s ridiculous!… But when I saw Rogue One, it had much more atmosphere and seemed a little more mature—and that was Tony Gilroy, who’s the showrunner on this one. So, hopefully this one will be a little more than little plastic people falling over.”

Asked if he took the role to please his kids at all Skarsgård said.

“I do think like that sometimes! I’ll go and do a children’s movie for that reason. But also, I’m not the most mature person myself, so who doesn’t want to go and fly a spaceship?”

Skarsgård is no stranger to gigantic Disney owned franchises having appeared a few times in the MCU already. Personally I think Stellan would make a great Imperial officer and there will be plenty of those in Andor, but I have no reason to suggest that other than my own imagination. I’m also not sure what Skarsgård means by plastic people falling over? The techniques for VFX movies have changed somewhat since the Star Wars Original Trilogy, and Skarsgård as said has worked on big budget movies like Avengers before. Now it’s little digital people falling over, sheesh.

What do you think of Stellan Skarsgård’s comments about the Andor Star Wars series and his involvement in the show? As always, leave any thoughts below.
