I know this may elicit a resounding “Duh” from some of you out there, but with X-Men: Days of Future Past being such a resounding success with its time-jumping, its multi-generational cast, and its “go big, or go home” ethos, some folks might have thought that the likes of Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen would wind up somewhere in the follow-up. But no, Stewart has told Yahoo Movies that he and McKellen, will not appear in X-Men: Apocalypse.”

No. Nor Sir Ian McKellen either,” Stewart replied when asked about an appearance. “I was learning quite a lot more about it last night, and it is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters. And so I don’t think we’ll be making an appearance.

So those of you that have enjoyed watching James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender portray the younger versions of Professor X and Magneto can look forward to seeing them further flesh out the iconic roles. X-Men: Apocalypse will introduce one of the Marvel team’s mightiest rivals, En Sabah Nur- the first mutant. Known as Apocalypse, he and his Four Horsemen will do battle against our mutant heroes when the film opens on May 27, 2016.

X-Men: Apocalypse will once again find Bryan Singer in the director’s chair as Fox continues to get major mileage out of its X-universe- which will soon include solo spinoffs for Gambit and Deadpool.
