Happy New Year, everyone! It’s a new day and a new year, and with that comes the inevitable new revelations from studios and networks regarding their new shows and films. The new year will bring with it many hotly-anticipated series, not the least of which hails from Netflix. Of course, I’m talking about Stranger Things.

The little show that could started off as one of many released a few years back. It had little fanfare outside of a trailer, and thanks to its nostalgia, lovable cast, and eerie story, it rose to the top of the pop culture-sphere in no time at all. A year and a half later, its second season was released on Halloween, and it’s largely been assumed that there would be around a year and a half until the next season. But when would it drop?

Well, that information was revealed via a new video announcement. In true Stranger Things form, it capitalizes on its ’80s era, pulling footage from the 1985 new year. But that wouldn’t be enough. Things are immediately static-y as we see cuts to a DOS computer screen along with a lot of audio artifacts. At the end, we see that July 4, 1985 will forever change everything…and then the clock ticks up to 2019, revealing July 4, 2019 as the new release date.

That wasn’t all. The official Twitter also revealed a new poster.

What will happen in this new season? Hell if we know. But we can’t wait!

Stranger Things 3 hits Netflix on July 4, 2019.
