Stranger Things: David Harbour Would Love To See Hopper And Joyce Get Together As A Couple In Season 3 – Would You?

Stranger Things Season 3 is in production right now and expected to hit Netflix in 2019. Season 1 was a smash hit when it first launched on Netflix and whilst Season 2 was not met with as much acclaim (I liked it) it was certainly another big hit for Netflix.

Season 3 we have been told will explore some new ground and hopefully, we will see many of the character arcs progress beyond the boundaries set by the first two seasons. Most of the main cast are all returning along with a few additions as one would expect. One of the lead character so the show is David Harbour’s Chief Hopper and Harbour was nominated for an Emmy for both seasons of Stranger Things so far. In an interview with TheWrap Harbour talks a little about how Hopper is going to develop in Season 3 and says that he would love to see Hopper get romantically involved with Joyce (Winona Ryder). Here is what Harbour said when asked what he thought of a romance between the pair of ex-high school sweethearts.

“I would love to see that. That would be a nice thing, wouldn’t it?”

Harbour also said he thinks that Stranger Things creators the Duffer Brothers would want to eventually have a happy ending.

“Look, I mean I think the Duffers, in their essence, are, like, Dickensians. You read Charles Dickens, right, and every happiness ending in any of his books are like the family sitting around the turkey, like having like Christmas Dinner, Scrooge is like happy now, and he has a family. I feel like the Duffers have a little bit of that same mentality, so I think the idea of getting a happy, nuclear family for this group of people might be a really interesting direction to take them.”

Harbour also hinted at a possible romance for Hopper and Joyce in Season 3, whilst warning he was not allowed to reveal too much for fear of Netflix snipers

“We’ve seen Hopper sort of struggle with his purpose for living. In Season 1, we’ve seen him struggle with fatherhood and his limitations with control in Season 2. And so it, you know, it might be a very interesting place to take him, to see who he is as a man in romantic situations and in terms of this vulnerability that I think he has that he hates about himself. I mean there’s so much rich things to mine there, and I think that you’ll be happy in Season 3 to see that… we take him to some of those places. That’s all I could say, otherwise Netflix is going to come to my house and kill me. I always, every interview, this video, I guarantee will say, the title will be David Harbour Spoils All of Season 3. And I’m sorry, Netflix, don’t fire me, please, I just get so excited about the show!”

Don’t worry David, we won’t use that title and let me reassure you, Netflix and all other studios love the coverage sites like LRM provide to fans. It helps to build hype and essentially works as free marketing. So I’m sure the snipers will remain on stand down as long as you keep your answers fairly vague for now.
