The Stranger Things writers (The Duffers) teased a small glimpse at the script for Season 5 this week. As we know, Stranger Things 5 will be the end of the main story, and probably should have been filming by now. Sadly, as we know there is still an SAG strike ongoing and thus like all productions Stranger Things 5 production is on hiatus.
Yet, this Monday, November 6th was also the annual Stranger Things celebration. The popular series past was celebrated and those in attendance got some BTS footage of play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which is designed to be canon with the show. However when it comes to Stranger Things 5, what can they possibly show the fans when filming can’t happen?
The answer, was a small tease for the first page of the script for Season 5 Episode 1.

Admittedly, there is not much to go on here. So you don’t have to click if viewing this on mobile, here is what it says.
Darkness
The sound of COLD WIND. GROANING TREES. And…
A CHILD’S Voice. Singing a familiar song:
This of course tells us absolutely nothing, which is exactly what the writers were looking for. It’s a tease for a show which is guaranteed to pull in a big audience anyway. There is zero marketing value in revealing any information about the plot at this time.

Of course, that won’t stop the fanbase from speculating anyway. Though a bit of speculation is fun when we have very little details to go on. It requires the fans to use their imagination and knowledge of the mythology of the franchise. These days we get so many accurate spoilers around big franchises such as Marvel and Star Wars that it’s nice to have nothing at all.
So let’s speculate, wildly, and badly. The camera pans across and we find Dustin and Suzie singing the Neverending Story, as they dance on top of the dead bodies of all their friends and they’ve been infected by ‘The Stuff’, then Morbius shows up and Morb’s all over the place. Dustin wakes up and he’s 22 and married to Suzie with three kids, and one of his kids is just Eddie from Season 4.(Let’s hope not!)
