Supergirl: Jon Cryer’s Lex Luthor Revealed

When Supergirl first hit CBS (It only hit The CW later), they seemed to be going out of their way to mention Superman WITHOUT actually showing him. Similarly, the series seemed to be left with side characters and C-level villains to work with. Every character seemed to have connections with Superman’s world…all without actually being directly connected with Superman.

For example, rather than actually get Lex Luthor, we are treated to the likes of Lena Luthor. However, as time has gone on, the networks has seemingly become much less constricted about the whole thing, and now Superman has turned into a recurring character on the show, opening up the floodgates for others to trickle in. Now, audiences are gearing up for Lex Luthor to join the party, and our first tease of him comes courtesy of the official Supergirl Twitter account.

“Steel can’t hold him back. Make sure you’re caught up before his arrival.”

Yes, in case you missed the memo, that is indeed Two and a Half Men‘s John Cryer taking on the role of Superman’s arch nemesis. Given his character on the long-running sitcom, he isn’t exactly the first choice most would think of when thinking of Lex Luthor, but you never know until you give it a try, right?

It’ll be interesting to see here what the character’s personality will be and his overall importance in the plot. Either way, Supergirl is taking one step closer to basically being a Superman show, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
