I’ve written a lot of crazy stories in my time as a film reporter. From big scoops to scathing reviews and critiques on studio moves, but I don’t think I’ve ever reported on anything this insane. TMZ is actually DOWNPLAYING the drama between Henry Cavill and Warner Bros., going so far as to say in (in all-caps, mind you), that the “CONFLICT IS FAKE!!!”

I know. I think I’m ready to hang up my keyboard now, but I guess I should go a bit deeper into this piece before I do. According to the outlet, all the stuff we’ve been writing about in regards to Henry Cavill dropping out of the DCEU has largely been fabricated — at least that’s what their sources are telling them.

So here’s what they have to say. Yes, Cavill did turn down a cameo role in Shazam! He thought he wasn’t getting enough money for the project. Yes, there are currently no active Superman projects in development. But that doesn’t mean Cavill and the studio are calling it quits. It simply means that they aren’t currently having conversations because there are no conversations to be had.

To TMZ, it seems that outlets assumed all this meant they were hanging up the cape, but there has been no indication that that conversation has been had.

Should a Superman film start to gain momentum over at Warner Bros., the outlet posits that Cavill is expected to be approached.
