According to a new report, the Superman: Legacy casting for Clark and Lois is down to three actors each. Those actors will now audition in person to determine who gets the coveted roles. That’s the information reported by Deadline, and we have all six candidates names as well, which is nice.
Check out what the trade had to say below.
Insiders close to the process say the first in-person tests with DC co-heads Peter Safran and James Gunn (who is writing and directing the pic) will take place around Father’s Day weekend or the Monday or Tuesday after with Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet and Tom Brittney expected to test for Clark Kent aka Superman, and Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan and Phoebe Dynevor testing for Lois Lane. Sources added that some of the test deals are still being negotiated and haven’t all closed, but that as of now these are the names expected to participate in the auditions.
Some interesting names there and a few we have heard before. For Clark all three actors names here have been tipped as still in the running. As for Lois, some names we I’ve heard and some I’ve not.

For now, I have nothing to give in terms of my opinion on who would be the two actors I would choose for each role. I simply don’t know any of them enough, bar Hoult, to make any kind of judgment. As for Hoult, I like him as an actor, and I can see him as Clark Kent weirdly. However, I will still need convincing Hoult can be a great Kal-El also.
Looking at his previous projects, I think Gunn definitely has an eye for choosing the right cast for his movies and TV series. Therefore, I have faith these six have all impressed and it’s now a case of just making that final choice (assuming the actor agrees to the contract terms offered). Remember that this contract won’t just be for one movie. Instead, this will be a contract likely covering film, TV and even video game and animation voice work. Gunn and Safran had previously outlined this approach when the DCU was first announced. In other words, this will be a lot of work for whoever gets chosen. However, I think most young actors would jump at the chance of guaranteed work for so long.
As for any others roles, Deadline also reports they think any casting for Lex Luthor or Jimmy Olsen, whilst ongoing, won’t happen until the two main roles have been cast.
What do you think as the Superman: Legacy casting for Clark and Lois is down to three actors each? Which do you like for each role, if any, form the names above? Thoughts below as always.
