Despite the fact that Swamp Thing’s episode count for its first season was reduced during production, many out there still had hope for a successful first season. After all, James Wan — a master of horror — was attached to the project. Additionally, the first episode of the show was pretty well received by critics and fans alike, with many excited to see where this journey could go. But it was never meant to be.
Following its first episode, DC Universe canceled the series as a whole, and the internet responded with outrage. Even more interesting is that, in spite of news surrounding the cancellation having to do with a tax deal, further rumors point to it being sniped by an exec at Warner Bros. But does that mean the end of this property on any screen?

Apparently not. Maybe. We Got This Covered is reporting that Warner Bros. may be developing a feature around the character, and that its development was inspired by the cancellation of the series. However, in spite of that, it will not be a continuation of the show and will feature a new cast.
Bloody Disgusting confirmed the validity of this report, though went on to say that, as this point, the report is super premature, as it’s all just internal chatting — meaning that this could all disappear whenever.
Either way, it’s potentially interesting, and is indicative of a studio that’s at least listening…even if it is inferring the wrong details from fan complaints. Would you want to see a Swamp Thing film? Let us know your thoughts down below!
