Symbiote Tom Holland? If you have not seen Spider-Man NWH, this article will have minor spoilers. Don’t get me wrong, film is awesome! However, I did have one issue, and it involves a certain well-known symbiote (I will get to later). NWH concept artist, Thomas du Crest, takes to Twitter in order to share his vision of Tom Holland’s possible future interaction with the symbiote.

The result looks pretty awesome! Very veiny-looking, but cool. I prefer a sleeker look, but I would not be opposed if something along these lines happen in the future. The symbiote overtaking Holland is pretty badass.

While we all want to see the symbiote, and Venom, in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man universe, I did have a slight issue with NWH. Let’s go back first to the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The post-credits scene was confusing for some, but awesome for others.

I loved it because I am a huge Tom Hardy fan. The big reveal is that Hardy’s Eddie Brock and Venom are merged into Tom Holland’s universe because the symbiote “knew” Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

Seems cool, right? Not exactly. I really thought Tom Hardy’s Venom may have a larger cameo in NWH. Now it was discussed, but maybe they had to make too many cuts. (Tom Hardy had on the damn NWH hat, too!) The rumor mill was definitely buzzing with his possible incorporation prior to the film’s release. I was hoping for him to join the end battle, but knew it was unlikely.

However, the mid-credits scene seems like a missed opportunity. Sure, Hardy’s Eddie Brock left some of the symbiote in Tom Holland’s universe, but all the while Hardy’s Brock is whisked back away after Dr. Strange’s new spell.

So, just like that, as quickly as Hardy’s Venom comes into the MCU, he appears to be gone. It just seems like an odd way to get the symbiote there. I guess it cuts out some time of having to introduce how it came to Tom Holland’s universe. However, it is misleading to me. Post-credit scenes usually have major connections to upcoming films. Venom‘s post-credit scene just leads to a mid-credits scene in NWH. I was pumped to possibly see Tom Holland vs. (or with if they made him an anti-hero) Tom Hardy.

On the plus side, it does appear that we will see the symbiote in a future film. Maybe even see Tom Hardy’s Venom meet up with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man? Here’s to hoping!
