It looks like the world of the MCU is quickly spilling over to the world of the DC Extended Universe. Of course, it was cool enough that we’d be getting writer-director James Gunn helming a soft reboot for the Suicide Squad property called The Suicide Squad, but it looks like there is at least one other person on team Disney who is making the jump with him.

Deadline is reporting that Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi is in talks to join the ensemble cast. There currently is no word on who he is playing, nor how big his role will be, but it certainly has my interest piqued.

Waititi will be joining the likes of Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Flula Borg, Steve Agee, and Nathon Fillion.

In addition to rebooting the character of Thor with Thor: Ragnarok, Waititi also played the rock-man Korg, who has quickly gone on to become a beloved MCU character, the likes of which audiences can’t seem to get enough of. But his casting tells me they can’t simply cut and paste a similar character for him in The Suicide Squad, and something tells me the role will be something slightly less expected.

What do you think of Waititi’s being cast? Let us know your thoughts down below!
