ABC television has made great strides into catering towards Latin family-friendly shows.
In a preview at the Television Critics Association earlier this week, the audience received a glimpse of the family comedy-drama The Baker and the Beauty that is a remake of the Israeli television show of the same name.
The premise of the show is a Cuban baker, who was thrust into a celebrity model’s life after a breakup of his girlfriend. The celebrity instantaneously turned the baker’s life for the worst, and the better as his business and family must adjust to this newfound stardom.
The television series feature an all Latin cast of Victor Rasuk (Lords of Dogtown, Godzilla), Nathalie Kelley (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Dynasty), Dan Bucatinsky (Second Act, Scandal), David Del Rio (Grease Live!, Pitch Perfect), Lisa Vidal (Star Trek, Being Mary Jane) and Carlos Gomez (Madam Secretary, The Glades).
During the TCA, the cast and executive producers were present to discuss the show’s premise with select media. The attendees included Victor Rasuk as Daniel, Nathalie Kelley as Noa and Dan Bucatinsky as Lewis. The executive producers included Rachel Kaplan, Peter Traugott, and Dean Georgaris, who is also the creator and showrunner.
The first episode air date will be on Monday, April 13 at 10/9c.
Originally, it is a remake of the Israeli show of the same name that is currently available on Amazon Prime. However, this show will be entirely Latin base and introduce a bit more humor.
