Teaser Trailer For HBO’s The Nevers Hits

We all love comics. We all need something to add to our viewing list. If the first two ideas intrigue you, then HBO and HBO Max will be adding The Nevers to their platforms in 2021. You can check out the teaser trailer below:

The Nevers series was originally created by Joss Whedon. He “exited” the series last year. However, the show has continued. While there was originally a planned ten episodes for the series, there will not be six as a result of the pandemic. A synopsis of the series can be found below:

In the last years of Victoria’s reign, London is beset by the “Touched”: people — mostly women — who suddenly manifest abnormal abilities, some charming, some very disturbing. Among them are Amalia True (Laura Donnelly), a mysterious, quick-fisted widow, and Penance Adair (Ann Skelly), a brilliant young inventor. They are the champions of this new underclass, making a home for the Touched, while fighting the forces of… well, pretty much all the forces — to make room for those whom history as we know it has no place.

The Nevers has an X-Men meets the Victorian-era feel for me, which definitely catches my interest. From the trailer the main characters appear to primarily be women who will make up those who are “Touched”. Some of the abilities I am sure will be used for good while others for evil. Combine that with the probable exclusion from society they will feel, the “Touched” will have a large amount to deal with.

While it does appear to be X-Men-ish, I think it definitely has potential. I do appreciate the portrayal from a time period not often used with “mutants”. What did you think of the teaser trailer for The Nevers? Will you be adding it to your list, or taking a pass? Leave your thoughts in the usual spot, and thanks for reading!
