Sad bit of trivia: When Amy Winehouse suddenly died of alcohol intoxication on July 23, 2011…she actually did so on my wedding day. I recall hearing the whispers of her untimely death as I prepared for the big day ahead, and my heart went out to her, her family, and her fans. It was a tough loss for the music industry, after Winehouse’s album Back To Black made her a bonafide superstar with a sound that was refreshingly different than what else was out there.

She was only 27.

Now, nearly four years later, the documentary film Amy will take an intimate look at the singer and shed some light on who she was. If the teaser below is any indication, the interviews included in the film may even give the world some insight into the demons that would eventually take her life.

The film was directed by Asif Kapadia and will be released, in international markets, on July 3 of this year- twenty days before the 4th anniversary of her passing.
