The story and the life of Puerto Rican-born Mexican singer Luis Miguel is a compelling one. The biographical life of a popular singer has its up and down moments as he navigates his family and career through many issues and obstacles. On the career side, he must surround himself with the most loyal employees for his continued success.

In the Netflix series Luis Miguel, Teresa Ruiz played a new character for season two named Azucena. The businesswoman works for Luis Miguel to protect his interests as he struggles with mistrust. Although the character is fictional for the series, she is based on combination of multiple employees in the real life.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta chatted with actress Teresa Ruiz on her character and the series Luis Miguel. We talked about the bases of her character and on how she managed to keep the details of her character under secrecy for so long.

Teresa Ruiz graduated from Los Angeles Performing Arts Conservatory (formerly known as PDAC) in 2003. She went back to Mexico to perform in numerous Mexican television and films, including Welcome Paisano, El encanto del aguila, and Mariachi Gringo. In 2013, she was invited by the late Martin Landau to become a member of the Actors Studio. Ruiz appeared in the fourth season of Netflix’s Narcos playing Isabella Bautista, a long time friend of the main character Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo. Later, she reprised the character for the first and second seasons of Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico. Most recently, she played Rosa in the Robert Lorenz’s film The Marksman. Also, she had television roles in TNT’s The Last Ship, Gang Related, and Major Crimes.

Netflix’s Luis Miguel – The Series is currently streaming with new episodes for season two adding weekly.
