We’ve all seen the future through the Terminator movies, and no matter the interpretation, it’s rarely anything but bleak. But, in spite of that, it’s a well Hollywood can’t help but return to on a consistent basis, for better and for worse. Mostly for worse, if you’ve seen those later movies in the franchise. But, thankfully, producer James Cameron is back to being the guy in charge for Terminator: Dark Fate, which nixes everything past T2 from the canon.

Thus far, we’ve seen several images from the impending threequel — yeah, I’m calling it a threequel, considering the others are being stricken from canon. We know that Linda Hamilton is reprising her role as Sarah Connor and that Arnold Schwarzenegger is also returning in the role that put him on the map, and audiences can’t wait to see how they look in action. Now, thanks to Schwarzenegger himself, we know we’re only a couple of days away from seeing actual footage ourselves.

Not much is known about the story for Terminator: Dark Fate, but in addition to our returners, there will be a bunch of new characters joining the team. Mackenzie Davis will be playing an assassin sent from the future to protect Natalia Reyes’ Dani Ramos. So, she’s essentially the Reese in this movie. Playing a new Terminator is actor Gabriel Luna, who plays Ghost Rider in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and also has a role in Dark/Web.
